OK- I know that this might seem a little unrelated, but it's connected! Really it is!
With the whole non-kosher MOT thing- any Jews here like me who go a little crazy over Sushi including the shellfish?

Re: Jews for Sushi?
Mon, September 27, 2004 - 12:38 PMHeh. I always felt that sushi escaped through the same informal kosher-of-convenience loophole that some folks apply to Chinese restaurant fare. :-)
Myself, I adore uni--that's even considered beyond the pale by some gentiles. :-) -

Re: Jews for Sushi?
Tue, October 19, 2004 - 10:36 AMSushi is like a drug for me...well sushi and bacon. I really don't think there is a way that I will ever feel as though I have consumed enough sushi or bacon in my lifetime, but I continue to try. Someone must! Why not me. -
-
Re: Jews for Sushi?
Tue, October 19, 2004 - 9:28 PMClearly this calls for bacon-wrapped sushi. -

Re: Jews for Sushi?
Wed, October 20, 2004 - 1:22 PMCan't we just enjoy wonderful regular seafood sushi, then go for bacon afterwards?
You're killing sushi for me! :( -
-
Re: Jews for Sushi?
Wed, October 20, 2004 - 2:27 PMBut, but BACON!!! bacon goes with everything!!
By the way I just got back from my Weekly Wed. Sushi lunch, no bacon, but still good!

Re: Jews for Sushi?
Thu, October 21, 2004 - 3:59 AMHeh, bacon sushi sounds like some kind of horribly kitschy, '50s housewife take on sushi, like bacon-wrapped shrimp sushi, or bacon smoked salmon mousse balls.
And Mike, I feel ya on this one--I'm not a purist about too many things, but sushi is one of them! -

Re: Jews for Sushi?
Mon, September 27, 2004 - 2:25 PMOh, how I love sushi! I'd take it over bacon any day. Well, except maybe for days when I'm hung-over...
Oof, now I have a serious wasabi jones. -
-
Re: Jews for Sushi?
Mon, September 27, 2004 - 2:31 PMI just went for sushi yesterday.
I loooooooove my little green mound of Wasabi- I eat it like icing on a cake by dipping my finger in and sucking on my finger.
Let's hear it for Squid, Octopus, Shrimp and Unagi! Huzzah! -
-
Re: Jews for Sushi?
Mon, September 27, 2004 - 5:20 PMYou know, your post just made me envision a cake composed of severed fingers and iced with wasabi paste. I bet THAT'S not kosher! -

No- not KEEPS kosher- that much is evident already. -

Re: Jews for Sushi?
Thu, September 30, 2004 - 9:00 PMWhat does it matter? You don't keep kosher. Just think of me as the *other* other white meat. ;D
-
Re: Jews for Sushi?
Thu, September 30, 2004 - 9:02 PMp.s. I ate tons of sushi tonight, and it was fantastic! The wasabi rush can really be quite orgasmic. -
-
Re: Jews for Sushi?
Fri, October 1, 2004 - 6:33 AMMy friends stare at me like I have 3 heads when I eat Wasabi like it's icing sugar.
I just stick my finger in and take a big dollop and suck it. mmmmm! Rushy ;P

Re: Jews for Sushi?
Thu, September 30, 2004 - 10:24 PMhad some sushi at Ebisu (San francisco) the other day. considering what i heard about this place i was severely dissapointed. the quality of the sushi was incosistent and mostly mediocre. I've had much better. it definitely was amusing to try their hanukka sushi (with smoked salmon) but far from inspiring. what a shame :/
