hey jews! got any? especially those that involve the holiest (or at least tastiest) of meat products?
my mother always comes over for xmas day with me and my kid, and her dad (episcopalian), and my best friend (presbyterian), and my dad (catholic), and my brother and cousin and aunt (jewish).
we usually have bagels and lox, often with bacon, and for dinner we eat a ham.
if i come from a corrupt family, and i recognize it, does that make me more or less responsible for my breaking of the laws?

Re: christmas traditions
Tue, December 14, 2004 - 6:57 PMMy family does the typical Jewish Christmas--we go out to a movie and then out to eat, but being from Seattle we generally substitute Thai or Vietnamese food for the traditional Chinese. This year, though, I'm going to a friend's orphan brunch first, where I'll hopefully get sauced up on mimosas before hangin' with the fam. Not that the fam is bad, mind you, but I just like any excuse to get drunk before noon! Now, how to get some bacon into the equation...? -

Wed, December 15, 2004 - 7:14 AMCome to my place between drunk mimosa-ing and fam-ing it and I'll slip you the sausage- I mean the bacon- I mean make you some bacon! We'll enjoy some BLTs... -

Re: christmas traditions
Wed, December 15, 2004 - 2:06 PMOh no, I wouldn't think of sitting idly by while you cooked for me! We should be makin' bacon together! ;P As for BLTs, I do believe the Detroit Grand Pubahs said it best:
"We could make sammiches...on the dancefloor."

Re: christmas traditions
Fri, December 17, 2004 - 10:23 AMHmm I think I will bring that up at the next Torah study. You are always responsible for your own behavior. Drink more Manachvitz, have sex then tell me if you feel guilty in the morning because you forgot my name. -

Re: christmas traditions
Fri, December 17, 2004 - 10:42 AMI like the having sex advice you give to her...
*pours more wine for ariana*

Re: christmas traditions
Fri, December 17, 2004 - 12:00 PMI wouldn't feel nearly as guilty if we drank something other than Manischewitz... I mean seriously, how embarrassing (and later: painful!) would it be to black out on kosher wine? -

Re: christmas traditions
Fri, December 17, 2004 - 12:14 PMI dunno, lets find out. -

Re: christmas traditions
Fri, December 17, 2004 - 12:24 PMNah- The last thing that I want to do is make Ariana uncomfortable- at least - not physically uncomfortable.
Shots it is! -

Re: christmas traditions
Fri, December 17, 2004 - 1:19 PMThat's not classy! (Although there's a time and place for tequila shots...) G & Ts all the way, my friends, unless you're going to break out the scotch...
Now what was the point of this experiment again? And also, where's the bacon? -
-
Re: christmas traditions
Fri, December 17, 2004 - 1:33 PMI have some nice single malts. And Im wearing a bacon g-string, wana see? -
-
Re: christmas traditions
Fri, December 17, 2004 - 4:21 PMWow, it's like a dream come true: single-malt scotch and a nice Jewish boy dressed in pork products. Just in time for Christmas! -
-
Re: christmas traditions
Sat, December 18, 2004 - 4:15 PMNot just any pork products and no farmer John. Im Gothalot, the other white meat! :-P -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: christmas traditions
Tue, December 21, 2004 - 3:36 PMcash in on a free lunch at non-J friends home. Its amazing when they put one piece of pumpkin, one piece of turkey on a plate - and think its a celebratory feast. Try one shabbas meal, and you will see why everybody loves a fat Jewish chick! -
-
Re: christmas traditions
Tue, December 21, 2004 - 5:58 PMI don't love fat jewish chicks.
I like my jewish chicks to be geek smart- getting their grad degree at an Ivey League school. Glasses too- maybe West Coast love for the outdoors with East Coast sensibilities... but who in the world can meet all of those criteria? -

Re: christmas traditions
Tue, December 21, 2004 - 10:45 PM*looks innocent*

Re: christmas traditions
Wed, December 22, 2004 - 4:57 AMAnd bacon is a euphamism for....
You pervert!
